This Saturday is our first community garden workday! We decided as a house church community to purchase a garden plot, work it together, invite families to work with us and use the vegetables we grow to help sustain families and individuals who are in need of food.
Here is a note from Lindsay, who is currently organizing our garden effort:
Spring is here and it’s time to get our community garden plot up and growing 🙂
This Saturday April 6th from 10-1 we will be working with the rest of the community garden leaders and building 5+ plots with the help of a local carpenter! Please join the house church and the rest of the garden community as we create these plots.
Meet at the house church at 9:45 and we will walk over to the garden (Corner of Madison and Beverly).
Feel free to bring supplies on Saturday! We need to pay for our plot, so please bring a couple of dollars to cover it. Also, we can use scrap cardboard or hand tools.
Please see the link below for an email from Transition Staunton (the organization supporting the Newtown community garden) with more details and a place for you to sign up and get Eblast emails about the garden and other projects.
Also, I just ordered some seeds today! We can discuss this more on Saturday/Sunday, as we won’t be planting for a couple more weeks.
Hope to see you all Saturday at 10am and bring a couple dollars for our plot! Let me know if you can come and if you have any questions.
Join us Saturday as we attempt to engage the mission of God’s dream in local, sustainable ways!
