A Love Letter to the Little Grill

Dear Little Grill,

I love you.  I know we’ve been on-again off-again in the past, but now….. I’m ready to commit.  I’m not sure how I could have been so blinded in the past.  Most likely, I was overwhelmed and attracted by the shine and excitement created by all of the new restaurants opening in downtown Harrisonburg.  I’ve spent some time with them, and I have to admit that I love a few of them, but I want to come back whole-heartedly to you.

You really grabbed my heart this past Friday night when I came in for dinner.  I had never had the Down Home meal before and I was ready to give it a try.  For some odd reason, I shook off the comfort and familiarity of meat and decided to go with the vegan meal instead.  I was drawn in by the fact that I would have the opportunity to rate which I liked better, the vegan ribs or the bbq fried tofu.

And let me tell you LG, you hit the nail right on the head with bbq tofu.  Don’t get me wrong, the vegan ribs were just fine, but the tofu knew who it was and owned the fact that it was different.  The vegan ribs were trying too hard to be ribs.  The tofu was original and delicious.  I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T do you know what that means?  It’s true LG, that Webbie song was definitely written about your down home tofu.

So, the tofu really did it for me.  It brought back all of the positive memories and made me remember why I love you so much.  Your delicious food.  Your comfortable atmosphere.  Your commitment to making Harrisonburg a more beautiful and loving place.  So, thank you.  Thanks LG for always being there for me, and never abandoning me while I was out galavanting with other, newer restaurants.  You’re the best.

Always and forever yours,

Brittany
